Taking the Word to the World and the Cross to the Lost

A Call To Repentance

God is giving us, as a body, a warning.  We have left our fist love.  We have left our purpose.  God has called us to be salt and light to the world.  We have come into a time in the Body of Christ, where we have greater understanding of the Word, we see the gifts of the Spirit in greater power and operation.        We think we have become rich in the things of God.  We have gained knowledge and understanding, but we have lost that which made the saints of old great.  We have lost the brokenness and contriteness of the heart that birthed revivals.  We have become poor, miserable and blind.

Revelation 3:18-19 says, “I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”  This is a time where God is bringing His people to a place of repentance and brokenness.

God is calling us to buy of Him His substance.  Isaiah 55:1 says, “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.”

When we, as the Church come to this point, the nations of the world will run to the Church for answers.

Isaiah 55:5b says, “...nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.”

God says to seek Him, and call upon Him while He is near.  This is the place where most saints miss it.  The Word says, “call upon Him while He is near.”  You must be able to discern when God is near.  God is always near when we call upon Him in truth (Ps 145:18).

The Word says, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us (I John 1:8‑10).  We have all sinned against God.      When we call upon the Lord, we must turn away from our sin.  God will have mercy upon us and will pardon us.  We may not be guilty of certain sins, but all sin is from a common root.

To call upon the Lord in truth, we must say what He says.  He says that at our best, our righteousness is as filthy   rags (Isaiah 64:6).

Hosea 10:12 says, “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

To be able to seek the Lord, we must break up our fallow ground.  Our fallow ground is our hearts.  Fallow ground is ground that used to be useful.  The fallow ground has become stony.  God says that He will take out the Stony heart and give us a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26).  A heart of flesh can be broken, in fact, must be broken to be used by God.

As we break our hearts before God, we must deal with our sins and be obedient to God.  The Bible says, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land (Is 1:18-19).

Joel 2:12-12 says, “Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.”

After we have submitted our hearts to brokenness, God said that “He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea” (Micah 7:19).  God promises that He will have compassion on us and will forgive us.  Psalms 103:12 says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

As our hearts are broken before the Lord, our sins, the sins of our city, and the sins of our fathers, will be brought before us.  The prophet Habakkuk cried out , “O Lord, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!  Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention (Hab 1:2-3).

As we repent of those sins, God promises that He will work a work in our day, so marvelously that we would not believe it, even if it was told us (v 5).  Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”  The Bible says that eyes haven’t seen, nor ears heard, neither have our heart conceived what things God has prepared for those that loves Him (1 Cor 2:9).

God is bringing the Body of Christ to a place, so that we can possess the land that God has purposed for us.  Then God says that there is nothing too hard for Him (Jer 32:17).

The last thing I want to leave you with is that when we come to true repentance, God’s glory will be seen upon us.  Isaiah 60:1-3 says, “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.”  Praise God!!!
