The Josiah Generation is Rising Up!
I want to start by telling you a story.
It is the story of Charles Spurgeon.
At eleven years of age, he was reading books on theology, preached at
fifteen, and pastored the largest church in England.
His church closed down for expansion and he moved into the famous Crystal
Palace and drew crowds of more than ten thousand.
Many London preachers were upset that a young kid should be allowed to
pastor such a church. Another
quick story from the Bible is Timothy. Paul
said of him, “from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able
to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.(2 Tim.
3:15).” Paul also told Timothy,
“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in
word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity (1 Tim. 4:12). God
is raising up a generation who will raise the standard of this age like Josiah.
Josiah was the 16th king of Judah. He
was eight years old when he began to reign.
He had administrators who were godly.
When Josiah was 20 years old, he found the book of the Law.
In it he found a prophecy in 1 Kings 13:2 that mentioned his name.
“And he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said, O
altar, altar, thus saith the Lord; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house
of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high
places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee.”
This prophecy was Josiah’s statement of impact.
In the Word of God, we will find our statement of impact.
When he found this, he rent his clothes.
At this time he began to change the nation of Israel radically.
By the time he was 26 years of age, he had torndown the high places of
idolatry and reinstated the observance of Passover.
2 Chronicles 34:3a‑5,7 says, ”and in the twelfth year he began to
purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved
images, and the molten images. And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his
presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the
groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and
made dust of them, and strowed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed
unto them. And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed
Judah and Jerusalem. And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and
had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout
all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.
This
generation can impact this world like no other generation can.
The world as we know it today is looking for someone to raise the
standard of the age.
God promises us that in the last days He would pour His Spirit upon all
flesh. He said that the youth would
see visions and that they would prophecy (Joel 2:28 and Acts 2:17-18).
God also promises that He will raise up an older generation to teach and
train the Josiah generation. These
older saints have the wisdom and experience to guide this generation in the
truth.
This is a solemn warning for the older saints: The Josiah generation will
be radical. They need to be
accepted as they are. They will
need to be molded into mature believers, yet their fire must not be doused.
They need to be taught to balance power with faith and the Word of God.
It is time for this generation to rise up and cast down the strongholds
of the evil one in this nation. God
is calling you to become a Josiah. AJO |
