Taking the Word to the World and the Cross to the Lost

Testimony of a Buddhist Priestess

By Madam Tai Sar Mui
I used to work as the chairwoman of a Buddhist-related home for the aged destitute and homeless.  I was so indoctrinated by Buddhism that I underwent rituals to become an official priestess and lived in a half-temple, half-bungalow.

I spent my time visiting both local and overseas temples and contributed money very frequently as I visited these temples, until one day in 1992, I woke up and could not move.  The sudden stroke left me paralyzed in the left side of my body.  I was devastated.  Monks from all those previous temples I had visited, came and prayed for me, but I was not healed.

It was only when I was lying in bed one day thinking about my predicament, that I had a vision.  A Caucasian man, dressed in glorious white gown appeared and walked towards my bed.  I thought to myself, "This is a white man, he must be taking me away, then I must be dying."    The man laid his hand on me, but I thought he was strangling me.  I was so frightened.

The next day, the doctor told me that I had no hope and because of my condition, it was best to rest at home and wait for my time.  I went back home and continued to pray to Guan Yin, the goddess of mercy. I did not give up and went with my girlfriends to Johor Bahru to seek Sai Baba after hearing about his supernatural powers.  When it finally came to my turn, Sai Baba refused to treat me.  When I asked him why, he shook his head and said, "I'm afraid I can't treat or even touch you, the person standing beside you is very powerful.  He is the highest God of all gods.

Gradually, my life returned to normal, and I started to exercise. One morning, on my way home from jogging, I saw a vision.  It was a huge cross shining upon me.  When I got home, I walked into my house and told my servant, "You don't have to pray anymore."  It was then that I realized that the Caucasian man was Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God!

I decided then that I would find out more about the Christian church and to attend a Mandarin or dialect service.  I even told my daughter, a Christian, to look out for me.  In my heart, I was telling God, "If you are a true God, help me find a church to attend".

When I prayed that prayer, I suddenly remembered that I had a Christian friend who had shared the Gospel with me about 50 years ago.  I got in touch with her, and arranged to go to her church.

The service I attended lasted about two hours.  As I had undergone an operation shortly before that, I had to bring a cushion wherever I went, to protect my back.  In addition, due to my long-term chanting as a priestess, I had damaged my  voice box and had developed a dry cough.  But during the 2-hour service, I did not experience any pain in my back, and I did not cough at all.  It was then that I realized that God had healed me of all my sicknesses.

Ever since God healed me, I have experienced and witnessed many miracles.  Many of the abandoned mentally disabled in my home have been healed and have became Christians.  For myself, I am illiterate but God taught me to read the Chinese Bible.  Praise God!

Now, I am involved in Para church activities such as Parents Care.  I have also joined Footprint Outreach Services which visits neighboring countries monthly to share the Gospel.  I am aged but I'm glad that I can serve God in Parents care so that I understand the superstitions and traditions that they are bound by, and can be used by God to set them free.

This is a testimony by Madam Tai Sar Mui, 67, who was the chairman of a private old folks' home.  After a miraculous encounter with God, she is now fully serving God in Parents Care as a volunteer.  She is also heavily involved in the Footprint Outreach Services, evangelizing to neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia every month.  Many in Malaysia have been touched and saved by her testimony.
